Jay, I just finished reading the Cooperstown Casebook. I have fooling around for years (or from the time I found baseball reference web page) with something similar to what you have been doing. Not so much as to who belongs in the Hall of Fame but trying to determine in my own mind the greatest players. I generally use 10 years of WAR rather than 7 as you have. My question is how did you handle pitchers hitting. There have been some great hitting pitchers (i.e. Wes Farrell) and some terrible hitting pitchers (i.e. Bob Buhl).

I sure hope this Ryan Braun thing goes away soon. Love watching him as a player. He plays too well to have these accusations tarnish his image for the rest of his career.

I felt very fortunate to finally get to see Jorge play last season when the Yankees came to Cincinnati. Kind of funny, he played first base during that game and hit a line drive home run to right field. He will be missed, a true Yankee.

Well said. I get emotional thinking about the ALDS and how close Posada came to legging out an infield single in his last at bat.
